CELEBRATION CHURCH SERMON DISCUSSION GUIDE:                PSALMS

Safe in Him

Pastor Zach Prosser

Psalm 4

The God of my Righteousness
Jeremiah 23:6 – Jehovah Tsidkenu
The Lord hears the righteous when they call (1 Peter 3:12; Psalm 34:17; Proverbs 15:29)

Imputed Righteousness – I cannot earn righteousness but can be transformed by it (2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 5:19; Matthew 6:33)

We cannot be clothed with the righteousness of Christ until we know we have no righteousness of our own.

The Lord has set me apart – You’re not alone; you’ve been separated
1 Peter 2:9; Jeremiah 1:5; Ephesians 2:10; Deuteronomy 14:2
You have to remember who you are and what you were created for

Holiness is the stewardship of God’s righteousness given to us; sanctification is the journey of holiness

Discuss: What are some practical ways you can shift the perspective of your circumstance to see yourself as set apart/separated rather than alone?

He has made His countenance shine on us
1 Chronicles 16:11; Psalm 24:6; 2 Corinthians 4:6
Meditate – to commune with yourself; to consult your own heart. When we meditate on God, we see His Glory, and can lie down in peace

He has put gladness in my heart
Nehemiah 8:10 – Jehovah Chadoth
1 Peter 1:8-9; 1 Chronicles 16:27; Psalm 126:1-3
Joy is a fruit of the Spirit, and an attribute of who God is

Joy is not the absence of suffering; it is His presence through the suffering.

Discuss: How can meditating on God bring more Joy to your day or situation?
