Key Text: Judges 6:1-24

  • God Calls Us Out of Desperate Situations

  • The Israelite’s were in bondage and suffered because of sin (Judges 6:1-5).

  • Gideon complained (Judges 6:13) and made excuses (Judges 6:15).

He had a worldly mindset instead of a kingdom mindset.

  • God Changes Our Identity and Shifts Our Mindset

  • The angel who visited Gideon was Jesus (Judges 6:12, 14, 16).

He reminded Gideon of his purpose and calling.

The word valor means “might” or “strength.”

  • Our identity is in Christ (Romans 13:14).

  • The Power of Sowing and Reaping

  • Gideon gave what he had to give (Judges 6:19).

  • God, in return, gave him peace: Jehovah Shalom (Judges 6:23-24).

The word shalom implies good health, prosperity, and contentment.

  • God is Calling Us Out of Hiding

  • The man with the withered hand had to show his weakness to the world (Luke 6:6-10).

  • God gives us power and strength to accomplish His purpose for us (Isaiah 40:29-31).

  • God will never leave us (Deuteronomy 31:6).

  • God Calls Us to Live by Faith

  • The just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17).

Belief is the mindset of faith, and it produces good works.

  • A change of perspective and the confirmation of next steps comes as we get closer to who God has called us to be and where God has called us to be.

  • See through the eyes of faith, not fear.
