Ø Bless the Lord

  • The word “bless” in Hebrew is Barach, which means to “exalt and bow low (or kneel down).”
  • David was telling his flesh to be quiet.
    • Command your soul to bless God, and don’t let your flesh speak to you.

Ø The Double Cure: Forgiveness and Healing (Psalm 103:3)

  • God is Jehovah Rapha: the God who heals (Psalm 30:2).
  • Healing was paid for by the stripes of Jesus (Isaiah 53:5; I Peter 2:24).
  • The disciples were called to preach forgiveness of sins and to heal the sick (Luke 9:1-2).
  • God makes the bitter things in our lives sweet (Psalm 27:7).

Ø God Redeems Us from Destruction (Psalm 103:4)

  • The word “redeem” alludes to a kinsman redeemer: someone who erases debts and pays for the mistakes of others.
  • Some translations use the term “pit” instead of “destruction.”
  • Crowns are benefits and rewards.
